UPDATES TO THE OFF-ROAD VEHICLE ACT
EFFECTIVE MAY 1, 2009

The following updates to the Off-Road Vehicle Act will be in force for the snowmobile season 2009-2010:

 

AGE : 5 YEARS OLD AND UNDER:
No one 5 years of age or younger will be permitted to operate a snowmobile under any circumstances, and cannot participate in snowmobile safety training courses.

AGE : 6-11 YEARS OLD
Those between the ages of 6 and 11 years old will only be permitted to operate snowmobiles 120cc’s or less, and only on a “Closed Course”. This age group requires snowmobile safety training and supervision by and adult over 19 years of age who has also had snowmobile safety training.

AGE : 12-13 YEARS OLD
Those between the ages of 12 and 13 years old will only be permitted to operate snowmobiles 340cc’s or less, and only on a “Closed Course”. This age group requires snowmobile safety training and supervision by and adult over 19 years of age who has also had snowmobile safety training.

AGE : 14-15 YEARS OLD
Those between the ages of 14 and 15 years old will only be permitted to operate snowmobiles 340cc’s or less, on a “Closed Course”, or outside of one. This age group requires snowmobile safety training and supervision by and adult over 19 years of age who has also had snowmobile safety training.

AGE : 16 YEARS OLD & OLDER
After the age of 16, there are no restrictions.
